ABOUT ALDO F. BERTI M.D.
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida where I lived most of my life. I moved to New Mexico in 2011 where I instantly identified with New Mexican culture, its people and its land. After training to become a Neurologist as well as Interventional Pain Management Physician, I had exposure to and treated patients suffering from chronic pain conditions. During this time, I noticed that for many of these patients there was a common pain initiating traumatic event such as a motor vehicle collision. Many experienced worsening of powerful pain cycles complicated by biological, social and psychological factors which further ingrained chronic pain conditions. Options for treatment were thus limited to maintenance of a condition rather than healing.
In 2021, when I started work with patients who were involved in traumatic events, I was hopeful that treatment in the acute, subacute and early chronic settings could instead promote lasting healing. Early identification and treatment of painful conditions with a combination of conservative and interventional strategies in many cases allowed the patient to restore movement and recondition ultimately leading to lasting pain freedom and recovery. More importantly, it interrupted a pain cycle that for many, otherwise, can lead to years or a lifetime of treatments to manage pain instead of heal it.

During this time, I also evaluated and treated patients who had sustained various forms of traumatic brain injury and were suffering from related sequela including post-concussion syndrome, vestibular conditions, ocular conditions, associated behavioral health conditions and post-traumatic headaches (primary and cervicogenic etiologies). Similar to post-traumatic pain conditions, traumatic brain injury related conditions can lead to physical, cognitive, behavioral and emotional conditions that if not identified and treated early can lead to long-term disability and pain. It is my hope that facilitating this care at AFB Pain Medicine and Neurology will make a difference in the lives of Americans suffering from traumatic brain injury and related conditions.
I welcome you to AFB Pain Medicine and Neurology and to our new clinic!
